Wordfull Wednesday
Wordfull Wednesday is looking for "typical days" today.
Below I have reposted one of my favorite "typical day" posts.
If you have time, you are also welcome to read my (stereo)typical homeschooling day post or simply my ordinary day post. :)
Between the Posts
As I was gathering pictures for this post, my children started to get a little nervous. "Mom, why are you taking pictures of clutter?" David was concerned. Nancy had hypothesized that the 5 of them were in for some heavy duty cleaning. It was her suspicion I was collecting "Before" pictures.
Cleaning is a family member here. I've told the story...when Molly and Tim were young, I overheard them playing. "Do you want to play home-teacher?" "Sure." "Okay...I'll be the home teacher and you clean the house."
Truth be told, I had no ulterior motive to my picture taking today. I was really just collecting life; the "what" that goes on between blog posts. I find scheduling posts to be heaven sent, especially if I am in a particularly chatty mood. I can stock pile for those for days when blogging becomes a casualty of time. Think of it as food storage for your blog. But other times, there's just nothing to say. Every day life takes over and simple stated, a picture is worth a thousand words.
Left to right and top to bottom:
•Laundry. A very wise woman once advised, "Quit trying to finish the laundry." What a great truth. Unless you go naked, don't sleep in sheets, and use no towels, it is virtually impossible to "finish" the laundry. Make peace with it.
•Sweeping. How I long for vacuum marks in carpet. No one can ever tell my broom has been here and done that.
•Bathrooms. I hate to clean them and I hate teaching others to clean them. But I hate outhouses more - so... heigh-ho...heigh-ho...
•Recycling. Who knew there was so much cardboard, aluminum and plastics 1&2 in the world? I wouldn't need a 4th recycling bin if I could just get Capital One to accept the fact that I am not interested! Pottery Barn is always welcome however.
•Vacuuming. Hardwood, tile, doormats, stairs, couches...
•Food. Mealtime - so overrated. And three times a day!
•Dishes. See Laundry and Food.
•Treadmill. I'd like to tell you that if this was in a nicer place than the basement, I would be much more enthusiastic in seeking it out. As it is, we have a love/hate relationship. I love that's it is true (Precor) gym quality. I have not one complaint on that score. However, it's still a treadmill...
•Studies. Scriptures, Ensign, recent addresses and BYU speeches. Plenty to keep one busy. Don't forget to write all that inspiration down in your journal.
•School. I still have never quite found the words to fully explain why we do what we do and why we continue to do it and why we wouldn't have it any other way.
•Errands. Groceries, clothes, dry cleaning, bookstore, doctors, groceries, dentists, work, church activities, thrifting, crafting, Scouts, groceries, baseball, post office, Walgreens, Target, groceries...
•Library. The biggest errand of them all. Averaging from 50-100 library items in our house at any given time.
•Fun. Puzzle races, art projects, games, games, games. We still love Banana-grams. Tim will play Monopoly any time, any place. He also loves chess.
•Wii. Fitness or games.
•Crafts. Not a very good shot of the craft stash. It currently holds the Christmas tree ornaments-to-be. Yarn, beads, felt, aluminum sheets...
•Piling. This room isn't actually torn apart. It's piled. Newly washed laundry, school books, Goodwill, and to-be-sent-to-cousins. Molly and Tim didn't let the piles stop them from enjoying the latest goodies from Barnes and Noble.
•Relaxing. Let's pretend I am able to spend a lot more time with these good friends than I actually am. I am starting to worry that if I rate one more craft or cook book and send it through on my Goodreads, I am going to have people de-friending me.
•Adventures. Ah...a good road trip. Winter bogs us down but come spring...we're out of here!
•Mr. Thornton. Always time to hold hands.
•Napping. Okay...not. But I can always wish!
And now you see the rest of the story.

I love the story about home teaching! Hee hee.
It is so true about the food, laundry, and dishes! Never ending. Even when we move, we somehow manage to move the "dirties" with us! :)
Hmm.. have you used before pictures before with your kids? =)
Love all pictures that have books in them!
I hate outhouses more too. I love that your children were wondering about deep cleaning coming up!
I must have missed reading your "ordinary day post." It was just beautiful! And I'm still jealous you got to actually live near the Atlantic. I love the north Atlantic coast.
